Realizing We Needed to Celebrate
I was horrified to realize we were nearly halfway through the month without celebrating! So, last night, we bundled the kids into the car and headed to Lang’s Ice Cream in Pembroke, our go-to spot for a sweet treat. It’s one of those places that always delivers, whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth.
Our Rainy-Day Start to Ice Cream Season
We’ve been going to Lang’s for years, but our first trip of 2025 was back in April on a blustery, rainy day. After a family bowling outing, we noticed they were open and couldn’t resist kicking off the season a little early. Despite the chilly weather, we stood outside, shivering and smiling with cones and dishes in hand. That spontaneous visit reminded us why we keep coming back year after year.
Lang’s Ice Cream Never Disappoints
Lang’s didn’t disappoint this time either. From the moment the kids see the sign, they light up with excitement. My youngest is totally captivated by the carved bear eating ice cream, he insists on saying hello to it every time we go. There’s just something magical about a place that gets the whole family genuinely excited.
Too Many Flavors to Resist
Although Lang’s offers grilling options, we’ve never quite made it past the ice cream window. Even when we tell ourselves we’ll try something savory, the dessert menu steals the show for us. With more than 25 flavors typically available, it’s almost impossible to choose just one. Trying something new has become a tradition, and honestly, no one’s complaining.
A Favorite Flavor and New Temptations
This time around, I went with one of my favorite flavors, Dirty Water, a delicious coffee base with cookie swirls throughout. It’s rich, smooth, and just the right amount of indulgent. I did almost try the new blueberry soft serve, which looked amazing. Maybe next time!
Even the Dogs Get Treats
We weren’t the only ones enjoying a treat. While we were there, a cute puppy was happily licking a puppy cup, and it made everyone smile. Lang’s really does think of everyone, even the four-legged visitors.
Seating Options for Every Mood
The kids always want to sit at the picnic tables out front. They love the energy, the bustle, and watching other families come and go. But when we want a quieter moment, Lang’s has a lovely lawn space out back that’s perfect for relaxing. It’s the kind of detail that makes you appreciate the thought and care behind a small, local business.
A Family-Owned Favorite Worth Visiting
Lang’s is a family-owned gem that has truly become part of our summer rhythm. The mix of charm, consistency, and quality makes it a spot we return to again and again. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Pembroke, NH, it’s absolutely worth a visit. And now that we’ve made our annual stop, we can officially say we’ve celebrated National Ice Cream Month, the right way.
